Don’t miss the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum‘s (NLBM) 3rd Annual “March of the Monarchs,” presented by Evergy starting at 12 PM, Saturday, May 4th at the corner of 22nd & Brooklyn (site of Municipal Stadium). It’s a FREE family walk celebrating the winning spirit of the great Kansas City Monarchs and held on the anniversary of Jackie Robinson’s first game with the team (May 6, 1945).
The event re-creates the tradition of Monarchs Opening Day when a marching band would lead fans from 18th & Vine to the ballpark at 22nd & Brooklyn. For our celebration, we reverse the route with the walk ending at the NLBM where the celebration will continue with live entertainment, food trucks, mascots, yard games and more. 2024 March of the Monarch Shuttle Services are Provided by Ride – KC. All pick up’s will be infront of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum’s main entrance. Starts at 11:00 AM and will run continuously until 11:50 AM.
