We’re GRILLIN’ & GROOVIN’ again at the 2026 Heart of America Hotdog Festival, presented by Hy-Vee, 3:00 PM -11:00 PM, Saturday, August 22nd at the National WWI Museum and Memorial. 

The event features live entertainment, your favorite ballpark foods, local food trucks and more.

Don’t miss a sizzling musical lineup featuring with live band concerts featuring Zapp and Confunkshun and performances by Christopher Williams, Klymaxx featuring Joyce Irby, Julian Vaughn & Intro.

Created by the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum (NLBM) in 2013, the Heart of America Hotdog Festival celebrates the historical connection between our national pastime and the All-America hotdog! Proceeds benefit the NLBM.

Festival gates will open at 3:00 PM with performances beginning at 3:30 PM.

This is a rain or shine event, scheduled for August 9th, 2025. No refunds or rainchecks on the day of the event.

The event will not be rescheduled on behalf of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.

Complimentary, limited ADA parking is available at the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City – 1 Memorial Drive, Kansas City, MO 64108. The entrance is off Wyandotte Street (access from the south) and ADA parking is FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED.

All ADA Drivers must have a disabled placard that is to be hung from the rearview that will be checked prior to entry.

  • The Heart of America Hot Dog Festival has a clear bag policy. Any clear bag with or without a handle or strap, may be carried into the festival gates. Please note an exception will be made for medical necessary items after proper inspection. 
     
  • All outside drinks and bottles will be asked to be thrown away at the main entrance gates before entry into the festival.

This event, through food sales, is a fundraiser for the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum. We will provide a variety of Hot Dogs, snacks and specialty offerings, along with water, soda, and adult beverages at the Hy-Vee Concessions Tent.

Food Trucks will also be available at the festival for your choosing to purchase. There are no free food offerings or give-away promotions for food at the Heart of America Hot Dog festival.

Once you enter the festival, there is NO reentry except in cases in extreme emergency situations.

Lawn chairs can be brought into the festival grounds for general admission only.

Please note that tents, umbrellas and coolers are not allowed inside festival gates at the National WWI Museum and Memorial.

Although this is an outdoor environment, smoking is not allowed under festival tents and will be discouraged on the festival grounds per instructions from the KCFD-Fire Marshall.

 Must be 21 to order alcohol. ID’s will be checked before all servings of alcoholic beverages.

Outside food, drinks, or any large bags are prohibited from being brought inside the festival gates.  

The Negro Leagues Baseball Museum is actively working on additional paid parking options in addition to Union Station that inlcudes shuttle transportation from one Metropolitan Community College Parking Lot.

Additional details will be provided closer to the festival date so ticket holders are aware. Please give us time to work with stakeholders in the area to finalize details to align with the location change.

Please be prepared to show proof of purchase by showing your mobile ticket or printed ticket.

All tickets will be scanned at the gate to gain entry. All will be provided a festival wristband at the entrance.

Negro Leagues Baseball Museum will be open for its regular hours 10:00 am – 5:00 pm the day of the festival in the Historic 18th & Vine Jazz District.

Please note for the street closure, Main and Memorial and Main and Wyandotte will be closed starting at 12:00 PM on Saturday, August 9th.

Only service assistive animals are allowed inside the festival gates.

All patrons must pass through the security checkpoints.

No concealed or open carry weapons of any kind will be allowed inside the festival gates. Please secure any other items in the trunk of your car. 

All activities are planned and scheduled outdoors in a secure fenced area. The perimeter will be established for event ticket holders only.

A security checkpoint will be placed at each entrance to the festival. All patrons must pass through the security checkpoints. No concealed or open carry weapons of any kind will be allowed inside the festival gates. Please secure any other items in the trunk of your car.

There will be multiple clusters of portable restrooms located on the south side of the National WWI Museum and Memorial, including ADA options.

The Kansas City Water Department will host the water bar free of charge to stay hydrated.

The KC Water Bar will allow customers to refill their own cups and bottles with fresh filtered clean water as many times as they please at no charge for the 2025 Heart of America Hot Dog Festival.

Please note all approved applications must be coordinated directly with the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum. No third-party vendors will be accepted.
