To Celebrate the historical connection between our national pastime and the hot dog, the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum (NLBM) in partnership with Hy-Vee, established the “Heart of America Hot Dog Festival” in 2013 to rave reviews.
The Negro Leagues Baseball Museum is a self-guided tour experience. Length of tour varies for all visitors but we recommend a minimum of an hour to fully enjoy the exhibit gallery.
The galleries of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum are accessible to people with mobility limitations, such as wheelchair/powered cart users and other visitors.
Guests may bring their own mobility assistance vehicles into the Museum. Guests using mobility assistance are responsible for any damages caused by the operation of the vehicles. The Museum at 18th & VIne also has a wheelchair for use as needed that can be checked out at the Security Desk upon entry.
Free street parking spaces are available. Parking is free at the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.
For large group visits, bus drivers are directed to upload and pick up museum visitors behind the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum off 17th Terrace (Buck O’Neil Way) to avoid stopping traffic on 18th Street. Bus drivers are prohibited from parking on 18th street out front of the Museum’s main entrance.
