KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Kansas City Royals Foundation, formerly Royals Charities, and the Kansas City Royals are happy to announce that for the third year in a row, they will cover the cost of entrance for everyone visiting the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum (NLBM) during February.

“We are excited to help Kansas Citians learn about the incredible story of the Negro Leagues,” said Luis Maes, Royals Vice President of Community Impact. “It’s a story about baseball as well as American history and our struggles and progress in civil rights. The NLBM is the only museum in the world dedicated to bringing this incredible story to life and we are fortunate to have it in our backyard.”

In 2023, more than 14,000 people, including many school and youth groups, visited the museum during February and the foundation wrote a check to the museum for $120,000.

“We are thrilled that the Kansas City Royals and the Kansas City Royals Foundation are once again providing admission to the museum free of charge for the entire month of February,” said Bob Kendrick, NLBM President. “The Negro Leagues Baseball Museum is a tremendous educational resource and is one of the nation’s most important Civil Rights and Social Justice institutions. We hope that students and adults alike will take advantage of this generous gesture to learn how America’s unsung baseball heroes helped change the game and America too.”

The Negro Leagues Baseball Museum is located at 1616 East 18th Street in the historic 18th and Vine District. Those visiting the museum during normal operating hours will not be charged for their visit.

The museum is open Mondays during February, including Presidents’ Day from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and on Sundays from noon to 5:00 p.m.

Patrons during the month are encouraged to share photos on social media using the hashtag #FreeFebruary and tag @NLBMuseumKC and @KCRoyalsFoundation on X.

If you are interested in scheduling self-guided group tours of 25 or more, please call and schedule with the NLBM at 816-221-1920 between 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday. Please note there will be no special group scheduled tours during the month.
